Negombo, located on the western coast of Sri Lanka, is a small town famous among tourists for its beautiful beach resort. Negombo, located approx 30 KM north of Colombo, Sri Lanka was once a trading port for Portuguese and Dutch. As Negombo is very close to the International airport, it is an ideal place to either commence or end your tour of Sri Lanka.
With its charming beauty, beaches, palm trees and blue sea, Negombo draws tourist from all over the world. This town is highly noticeable in ceramics and brass ware. Negombo is also famous among travellers for the freshness of its sea food in all over Sri Lanka. Long-stretched sandy beaches of Negombo are safe for swimming and various water sport activities. In past, Negombo has been ruled by the Portugese, Dutch, and the British. Travellers can still finds the remnants of the colonial period in Negombo like beautiful canals constructed by the Dutch and the churches built by the Portuguese.
